Teaching

Some of my involvement with teaching and education

One of my biggest passions is Education. I’ve worked as a voluntary Python instructor, private Python tutor and TA’d for almost half of my semesters at CMU in the Mathematics Department and Robotics Institute. I’m currently in my second semester TAing Computer Vision! You can check out the awesome course page here.

My passion for education began in high school when I co-founded Code Kids, a nonprofit programming course for underfunded schools in São Paulo. This initiative allowed me to wear many hats, from fundraising and logistics to my favorite role: teaching. We’ve successfully maintained the program for nearly 5 years, adapting to challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic by transitioning to online classes. I’m proud to showcase some of these virtual lessons here:

In recent times, my involvement in education has deepened, particularly in the field of linear algebra. This experience spans both sides of the classroom: as a Teaching Assistant (TA) for introductory linear algebra, and as a student delving into the intricacies of abstract linear algebra. These dual (no pun intended) perspectives have enriched my understanding of the subject and enhanced my ability to communicate complex mathematical concepts effectively. For more on how I educate as a TA, check out my SVD demo notebook! As a student, I have some public proofs and explanations of abstract ideas in algebra:

I find this work to be incredibly fulfilling, and I intend to remain involved with it throughout my entire life. If you have any ideas or just want to chat about being involved with teaching, please reach out!
